L’esercito siriano e le milizie sue alleate, con il sostegno di Russia e Iran, ha strappato all’Isis la città di Mayadin, nell’est della provincia di Dayr az Zor. Lo riferisce l’agenzia governativa Sana. Secondo la Sana e altri mezzi d’informazione governativi, le truppe lealiste sono entrate a Mayadin dopo diverse settimane di combattimenti.
Da parte sua, l’Osservatorio nazionale per i diritti umani in Siria (Ondus) afferma che combattimenti sono ancora in corso in città tra militari governativi e jihadisti dell’Isis.
Negli ultimi mesi a Mayadin si erano ritirati dirigenti e forze dello Stato islamico dopo la caduta di altri bastioni nelle loro mani, in Siria e in Iraq.
